Where We Are
Portacomaro, Monferrato — UNESCO Heritage
Portacomaro is a medieval village nestled at the gateway to the Monferrato region. Its distinctive Ricetto, a fortified structure surrounded by high walls dating back to the early 1000s, is a must-see. The town square is a famous arena where the local sport par excellence, Tambass (wall tambourine), is still played today. Walking through the narrow cobbled streets of the Ricetto, you’ll stumble upon picturesque views and hidden corners. The landscape from above is a succession of hills crowned by castles and historic homes, surrounded by hazelnut groves and vineyards as far as the eye can see. A few steps from the Ricetto is Casa Graziella, a welcoming residence nestled in a quiet courtyard, perfect for soaking up the local atmosphere. From here, you can easily walk to bars, restaurants, and shops selling local specialties.
